Four VCF members took advantage of a gap in the busy programme of the 2015 Sheep Veterinary Society Autumn Meeting (Isle of Mull, 28-30 September) to spend a short time in fellowship and prayer.
As luck would have it, our field trip on the Tuesday saw us visiting the Isle of Iona, in glorious sunshine. After seminars (and a wonderful lunch), Tina Morris, Stephen Anderson, Catriona MacIntyre and Graham Baird met in the grounds of Saoghal nam Ban, the ruins of the old convent next to the Abbey. Tina read Psalm 121 from “The Message”, giving us a new perspective on one of the most popular psalms. Having spent 2 days travelling through the spectacular scenery of the Isle of Mull, it was particularly appropriate. We considered the theme of God’s guardianship, and its impact on our lives before joining in praise and prayer, as thousands have done on this Isle before us.
The Isle of Iona was a focal point for the spread of Christianity throughout Scotland, and made for a beautiful, sunny backdrop to our time together.
“I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains”.
