The year started with the traditional CU BBQ for fresher’s fayre. Everyone did a sterling job in bun splitting, onion frying and burger flipping, and it only rained right at the end!

Ten CU members graduated last year and were sorely missed. We give thanks that all have successfully found jobs (one back with us as a farm animal intern) and we were joined by an equally large 3rd year. We continue to meet as two separate campuses. About seventeen of us from the Hawkshead Campus meet on Tuesday evenings at Professor Aldridge and his wife’s house. We are so blessed with their hospitality and teaching. We have been studying the women in the Bible (quite apt considering we are all of the XX chromosome makeup).

Ten freshers also started this year. The Camden campus meets on a Thursday evening in College and we have had a joint meeting which included a couple of our members performing in the open mic night in the college pub.

In the lead up to 4th year exams before Christmas we decided to put together some revision packs containing Fairtrade coffee, tea, hot chocolate, chocolates and bible verses etc... These were really well received by the year.

At the end of January we had a CU weekend away at Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath. This was a great time of fellowship, learning and eating the vast quantities of pastries kindly provided by one of the member’s baking family. We studied Philippians and were really challenged by its message of contentment and joy, independent of one’s circumstances.

We also enjoyed meeting up with some members of the Bristol and Bath CU.

The term was nicely finished off with six of us attending the southern VCF conference, a thoroughly enjoyable and challenging weekend.

 We give thanks for…

…the provision of jobs for the final years, all of our members, the Aldridge’s support, newcomers and other newly interested parties.

Please pray…

… that the two campuses might be able to meet together more regularly. For new leaders for the Camden campus, to take over from the 2nd years when they move out to Hawkshead. For more opportunities to reach out to our college both individually and as a CU. For this years final year student as she approaches exams and starts thinking about jobs. For continued relationship building, accountability and utilising and facilitating the different giftings within the CU.
