“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Acacia International School is a Christian International School in Kampala. Claire has been the Senior School’s Principal since August 2014. She endeavours to create a school environment where: God is honoured and students learn more about the gospel every day; staff feel valued and supported to do their job well; students can learn and achieve excellence in their studies. The Senior site is currently small but has plans to expand and to offer International GCSEs for students. The school provides a Christian learning environment for children of many nations, including a number of missionary families living and working in Uganda. Claire is also involved on the board of Banunule School, a local Ugandan Christian school.

James works as an honorary lecturer at the veterinary school in Makerere University, Kampala, the only vet school in Uganda. He teaches surgery to the students and aims to provide opportunities for them to practice their skills by arranging surgeries at the vet school, and taking students on surgery trips to different areas in Uganda. These trips are an opportunity to get to know students better, for them to get hands on surgical experience, and to be able to discuss aspects of faith. James aims to disciple and mentor students to become young professionals of integrity, who love God. Recently, James has been working as a volunteer helping to set up a new clinic and training a new vet at the Uganda Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (USPCA). The USPCA have also allowed Makerere students to work at the shelter and it has become a productive satellite student training centre. James also works with other partners involved in livestock development programs, such as, community rabies vaccination programs, rabbit and pig projects.

Claire and James live in Makindye, Kampala with Ruby (10), Jessica (8) and Florence (6).
