The VCF will be running a CPD day entitled Feline Hyperthyroidism and Feline Cardiology – what evidence-base can I apply in first-opinion practice?

The speaker will be

  • Andrew Bodey MRCVS - has managed in excess of 1,750 cases of feline hyperthyroidism with radio-iodine since 2008 and established the Hyperthyroid Cat Centre  in 2013.
  • Angela Bodey MRCVS - has provided a referral cardiology service at Abbey House Veterinary  Hospital, Leeds, since 2000 and has published on aspects of canine and feline hypertension since undertaking her PhD at the RVC in early 1990s.

Topics to be explored will include:

Feline hyperthyroidism

  1. Possible aetiology
  2. Disease pattern/progression
  3. Diagnosing FH
  4. Evidence-base for treatment options
  5. Kidney function in relation to hyperthyroidism
  6. Preparation for RIT

Feline cardiology

  1. Case examples of
    1. HCMO inc progression,
    2. Hypertension
    3. Effect of FH
    4. Arrhythmias
    5. Murmurs
  2. ECG reading
  3. Cardio therapeutics
